Our Approach
InCrowd Safety exists to help events and venues understand, plan for and manage crowds more effectively.
The approach is evidence-led and practical, combining crowd science, crowd behaviour and extensive operational experience. Every event is different, so advice is developed around the people attending, the environment they are moving through and the realities of delivering the operation on the ground.
The focus is on identifying where crowd pressures are likely to develop, understanding why they may occur and developing proportionate measures that can be implemented, monitored and adapted by the event team.
Adam Robson
I am a Crowd Management Specialist with more than 20 years’ experience across policing, public safety and major-event operations, including over 12 years specialising directly in crowd management.
My work combines extensive operational experience with an MSc with Distinction in Crowd Science and Risk Management, allowing me to approach crowd management from both a practical and evidence-led perspective. I specialise in understanding how people arrive, move, gather and leave complex event environments, and translating that analysis into clear, workable Crowd Management Plans and operational strategies.
My recent work includes crowd management planning and senior operational roles at some of the UK’s and world’s largest events. These include the Mayor of London’s New Year’s Eve Fireworks, the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Qatar Grand Prix, Alexandra Palace’s PDC World Darts Championship, Glastonbury Festival, Roskilde Festival and Notting Hill Carnival.
I was also responsible for developing the Crowd Management Plan for Operation ASLAN – the planning undertaken for a potential England World Cup victory parade – addressing the challenges associated with very high public demand, route-based viewing, transport arrivals, crowd behaviour and the management of large numbers of people within the public realm.
Before moving into specialist consultancy, I spent ten years as a Dedicated Football Police Officer with Hampshire Constabulary and worked at more than 700 football fixtures across the UK and internationally. That experience provided a strong grounding in crowd behaviour, public order, operational decision-making and multi-agency working.
Today, my work spans Crowd Management Plan development, crowd flow and capacity analysis, ingress and egress planning, crowd density assessment, event control, operational crowd management and independent review.
I am also a qualified teacher and continue to contribute to professional crowd management education. My focus, however, is now firmly on specialist consultancy: applying crowd science, crowd behaviour and operational experience to help event organisers and venues make better-informed decisions and develop crowd management arrangements that work in practice.
